Extracting G/L detail out of Lawson payroll run for non-Lawson G/L system
gronsman
We are installing Lawson payroll to replace Infor's mainframe payroll system and at this point plan on keeping the mainframe G/L system. We are trying to determine the best method to extract the G/L detail records from the Lawson payroll system to feed into the our legacy G/L system. We run at least four different payroll runs each week and need to extract the G/L detail for each payroll run. We have looked at extracting the G/L details records using the gldetail file out of the PR197 run. We looked at running a Process Flow on a weekly basis (saving the date of the last run to know which records to pull) to read records from the PRDISTRIB file.
We see pros and cons of each method, looking for suggestions on the best method to feed a legacy G/L system with Lawson payroll detail G/L data?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi we run lawson payroll (unix aix) and peoplesoft GL and we use a custom lawson cobol 4GL program that we wrote. Basically we extract unprocessed data (status =1) from the gltrans table and format data on a file that is then ftp'ed to our peoplesoft system. Hope this is helpful and let me know if you want to discuss further - i can be reached at ltourou1@fairview.org

Hi. We are currently working on a similar task. We have Lawson Payroll but run Oracle financials. We are working on a program that get's the CSV file from PR197 and writes the data to an interface file which is then loaded to the GL interface table using sql loader called from within the program. The reason for using the CSV file is because amounts are already rolled up for the various accounts. To know which PR197.csv file to use we get the user id and process date for the payroll processor and read USERRPT table in GEN to get file location.

I had to do a similar process while we migrated one of our hospitals from their previous system to our Lawson system. They initially just brought in their HR and Payroll and then converted GL 9 months later. I built a processflow that queried the GLTRANS file to pull the data. because of the requirements of the destination system, I had three separate queries that created separate files for the other system.

Thank you for the responses to my questions. I reviewed the GLTRANS option but there is not enough detail on the GLTRANS file, we need PAYCODE and DEDCODE plus more detail.
I investigated the PR197 CSV option and the detail on this file is relatively close to our legacy system. Japheth would you be willing to discuss this further, if so contact me at gronsman@gbp.com.
Thanks

There is a way to get the attributes using custom attributes (using screens GL05 MX00 and MX00.3). We get pay code, deduction code and employee number. We have a custom 4gl cobol program that processes the data.
