Derived Field with Rule Block - LPL - How?

We need to create a derived field so that we can change some wording on the Benefits Enrollment page. We copied the information from the Business Class into the derived field but we are getting an error that the rule block must be defined before it is referenced. We have tried to add it but we are getting an unexpected component error. Has anyone done this or know how to do it?

Hello Michele:

In that Business Class is the Rule Block section positioned before the Derived Field section? I have found that when Derived Fields need to use a Rule Block, then the Rule Block section needs to be positioned before the Derived Field section.

Yes from the business class I am copying it and pasting it is before it but when I do this in the derived field I am creating it gives me a component unexpected error. Should I be creating another field type for this or use a different keyword? We were told by Infor to create a new derived field but we cannot get this piece of it to work.

We cannot save the derived field because it has no reference to the rule blocks but we cannot find a way to add the rule blocks.

Any help is appreciated!!!

Since the LPL editor/validator for User Fields can't resolve the reference to the Rule Block in the base business class, there is no clean/easy method...

However, since you are obviously feeling ambitious already (that's quite a definition!) I imagine you could get it to work if you simply inlined the LPL from the rule block directly into your Derived Field's definition.

To do so, take each include line and replace it with the contents of the corresponding rule block from the base LPL. Take care to adjust the indentation levels so that they are validly indented within context. From a quick glance at the EmployeeEnrollment business class LPL that include doesn't in turn include anything else. If it did (to make this suggestion more general for others) you'd have to recursively inline every instance of "include Something" as well.
