Change Effective Date PA54.1

Hello,

I'm trying to change an effective date from 9/15/2021 to 8/20/2021. I'm getting the following error "New effective date prior to initial history; cannot update". What should I do to fix this error and change the effective date?

Just curious - Has anyone ran into this issue before?

I've seen this before and typically it happens when you're trying to change one of the initial actions processed like a new hire action. Also, are you trying to back the date up? that can be an issue too. We typically have to purge the record and start over if they haven't started yet.

You are getting the error because the employee Job History are after the date you are trying to change it to. The only way you can modify this is to add history via the PA13.2.

Your Effective Date should be 8/20/21. The Stop Date should be entered as the day before the next PA13.2 record. For example, if 9/15/21 is the next record you would want to enter 9/14/21 as the Stop Date of the record you are adding.

This has worked for me in the past.

yes, we've corrected stuff using PA13.2 as well. It gets a bit confusing with all the instances of positions sometimes.

Hi @paula-brooks What step's do you take to purge the record? Is this done directly on HR11.1?

I think it all depends on how you added the record. We do the PA31 applicant then process an action on PA52.4. If you do it that way too, you will need to delete the record from HR11 then run the PA120 job to purge the applicant record before you can add them back in. None of that can be done if they have received pay though.

I can sometimes add a history record with the previous date on HR54 for Rate of Pay and that will allow me then to change the effective date on PA54. Everyone I do seems to be just a little different. Have never tired the PA13.2 to get it to work so will try that in our test system and see if it works any better.
