Enable/Disable event handlers with Form Script

Hello again, I'm sure this will be ignored as all my previous questions, but I hope for at least a reply.

Do you know if is possible to enable or disable a form event handler with a form script function? We're doing this for form components but I don't see anything about form events in the mongoose api besides the GenerateEvent function.

Are you talking about entries you have in the Events for a Form? If that's the case, I don't see a direct way to do it but you could try this work around:

At the start of the event you want to dynamically enable/disable, have it call a Form Script that returns either 0 or 1. If you return a 1, the vent is aborted. A 0 will cause it to continue. If you can dynamically control what value gets returned from your Form Script that might do what you want.

I'm talking about these events/handlers:

For example this event is bound to a button to print or post the journals. I was looking for a way to disable any custom handler I'd made for that event at the moment the form is displayed (like the usual EnableDisableComponents method that is executed within the StdFormPredisplay event).

Why don't you selectively call the Events from the Form Script where applicable instead of having them automatically attached?
This way you have FULL control yourself.

My question would be why is this a concern? If the button is the only way to fire this form event, disabling the button component should suffice in preventing it from being fired.

If the event is also fired as part of a larger process, then Stephen's suggestion or some sort of pre-processing event/script code could be used.

To expand on Rene B's comment, you can also condition the event handlers based on the current IDO collection if you're having problems with individual handlers firing at the wrong time.

But disabling events in the manner you're suggesting would be considered more of a form customization and not a runtime action, in my humble opinion.

We're working on generic solutions for different customers. The thing is, some solutions can share the same forms. If a customer just want one of the solutions that use that form, we need to hide or disable components of the other solutions, events included. I know the best way would be validating in the SQL script generated with FormSync, so the components wouldn't be created, instead of being hidden. But that implies a lot of validations and is really hard to make it dynamic. That's why I want to do it via form script.

Well, my workaround for the moment is create a variable with value 1 or 0 the moment the form is loaded and use a conditional action type handler to validate its value the moment the button is clicked.
