Data Dictionary

I need a data dictionary for Visual 9.0.8 and I was wondering is there a way to generate

this dictionary in Visual or another way to obtain one. There appears to be a third-party

company (The Virant Group) who provides one, but it is for Visual 7.1.1 Perhaps this is

at least a starting point, but I wanted to know if anyone knows of a different solution.

Infor used to deliver a physical data dictionary back before version 6, but haven't since the early 2000's. We took to exploring the database itself to understand the schema better. Fortunately, your version 9.0.8 has the ability to click on any field in a form and identify the data field behind it.

Logged in as SYSADM, click on the grid icon from the toolbar of any window. The cursor will turn into a ? and click on the field you want to identify. The table and field will be displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the form.

Several years ago I created a tool for Oracle databases that among other things extracts a data dictionary into Excel. Two months ago I posted an article in the VMIUG-TEC group that shows how to visually recreate a portion of the data dictionary in the Home Page area (Visual main menu banner area) using VB.Net. That solution is able to work with both Oracle Database back ends and SQL Server: How To: Visual Manufacturing Home Pages - Part 6 Visual Manufacturing Related Database Tables

The picture below will likely be very blurry, but it shows the Home Page solution in action:
