UX - Setting your Theme and Color in FSM or HR Talent

I'm very curious to know if any or many of you are not using the Vibrant Theme and the Colors available because the color of the menu changes as well.

For example, using the Purple color changes the top bar to purple, but it ALSO changes the menu color to purple. My intuition is this is too bright and obnoxious for people to look at all day so they stay with colors that allow the menu to stay black (which are limited).

My idea is that the Color setting should only control the top banner bar color and NOT the menu color. Some people may love certain combinations though...

Any thoughts, comments, opinions or ideas are welcome here.

p.s. UK users, just replace Color with Colour.

I found the subtle/light colors were easier on the eyes, I chose the Amethyst as it was in the purple color family, but not so harsh. I found the original purple way too bright.

Thanks Gretchen. If using the Vibrant - Light Theme, using the Amethyst Color, the menu didn't change to Amethyst but stayed black, do you think that's the issue with "easy on the eyes" or is it more than that?

I agree, having the menu bar change in the Vibrant Theme is too intense. Most of our users prefer the Subtle - Dark or Subtle - Light options if not using Default.

Keeping the menu bar black and having the top banner bar be colored would be better for the Vibrant themes.

UPDATE - in the upcoming April update we are delivering an option in the menu Theme and Color settings where users can ignore or stop changing menu color. It's actually the default to NOT change it. You have to actively request that the menu color change with the Color you pick.
