Deleting OLAP cube data using OLAP administration

Hi,

I am aware of deleting OLAP cube data by using Import master and application engine processes. Just wanted to know is there any way , where we can delete the OLAP cube data using OLAP administration?

Please note that Export /Import OLAP cube is not feasible option for me in OLAP administration. Request you to suggest any other way in OLAP administration to delete OLAP cube data if possible?

Pradeep, If you are using V11, then in Office plus you can use the data processing loop.

You can create a data area of the cube you want to clear, using new data world and then loop through this dataworld and dbset #NA to the intersections which you have looped through. It's a bit of a long-winded way of doing it, so please clarify why using one of the other methods is not available to you?

Yes ,I am also aware of Officeplus to delete the data and missed to mention in last thread. The OLAP database size is more than 45 GB. I do not have such huge resources environment. So opening the cube in office plus hangs the system.

So I was looking for any option available in OLAP administration or anywhere which can delete the data without loading or browsing the data.

I would say that Application Engine is by the best option as it only requires the definition of a data area then a single line of AE code to delete it.

If this is v11 then OLAP admin isn't really designed to delete data.

All data management options require a cube to be loaded into memory to work with the cube.

The only other ways are either to identify a unique element in a dimension of that cube, which is not used in any other cube and deleting the element or elements will delete the data as you next load the cube into memory or if you really want to delete all of the data in a cube, then rebuild the cube in OLAP admin with the same name and same dimensionality as the original cube. This will overwrite the original cube with a blank cube. Just make sure you export the rules file, if any, prior to the overwrite and then reimport it into the new cube.

Hi Pradeep,

you can create a mapping running on top of an empty table or view. Just have turned on the option "Clear Values". If you want to delete only a part of the cube, you can define it in the clear area column.
