Correct overpayments and underpayments for 2021

Our last pay date of 2021 was Dec 30 and we pay biweekly. Due to Kronos being down, and our managers manually recording time, several employees were overpaid by 40 hours. Normally we would void and reissue, however it is a new year. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Can we process a payment for 12/30/21 on 1/4/22?

You can process a check for the previous year in the current year. Since Infor is capturing payment data by check date you can void and reissue payments as needed. Since this is the first week of the new year it is not that the checks would not be honored by a bank.

Hi Cindy. I missed this post originally, but for the benefit of others who may read it -- the general guidance by Infor is "what happened in 2021 (and of course aligning with what was filed as 2021 taxes and taxable wages)" is what goes on the W2 for 2021 (since the government wants what was paid/deducted on there versus what should have been). And then the adjustments/fixes are in 2022 and go on the 2022 W2. Doesn't change that you can run retroactive payments (as described) but our general recommendation is to avoid changing 2021 once 2022 began. We have talked to many clients dealing with the upcoming Kronos related adjustments (in 2022 for issues in 2021 and 2022) and all of the adjustments are happening in 2022 tax year. (This guidance excludes what drives a W2-C of course, which is when something was missed on the W2 and needs to be added). Thanks for posting.
