Incorrect headers on invoices/blank statements

Hi All,

We have a customer using Opera II on server 2012 R2 hosted in Azure.

The AV was previously removed when we were troubleshooting this issue several months ago, so there is no active AV running on the server.

The hosted desktops are running windows 10, previously the Webroot AV was removed from this and its now currently running the windows 10 in built AV (Defender) with the exclusions detailed below

Over the last year they have reported intermittent issues with their system.

They do a statement run by email and some statements emailed are completely blank. If they go back into the account and send the statement by email it is perfect.
The FRX part of the report layout (could be invoice or PO) goes missing from the report folder
Invoices posted correctly on the account but the PDF image created on STRAN is incorrect, the pdf image has the correct item details but the header details are pulling from a completely different entry on IHEAD but every time this happens it pulls from the same (wrong) entry on IHEAD.

Their IT company have advised that the only AV installed is Windows Defender and all exclusions to the Opera root on server and clients are set up.

Hi Brian,

This is interesting as i too have a customer who has recently started reporting point 2 and 3 they are using Opera II version 7.70.50. Their server is also 2012 R2 but with VMWare.

I have advised their IT to ensure all AV exclusions are set on the server and all clients so was waiting to see how this goes.

hi brian, not sure if it will help, but theres a couple of other folders on the server & clients that are Pegasus related that we always exclude where AV can still interrogate.

We also do the local paths on the server eg d:pegasus as well as the UNC & any mapped drives

Hi Brian, option 3 is usually inconsistances or corruption in IHEAD or ITRAN, look for blank records or ** AUTO ** (from memory) in both files. Pack and re-index. I've also seen this when the Opera cannot communicate with the printer driver / queue which could also cause option 2. May be worth linking the statement design to a different printer driver for the purpose of emailing statements and testing. I also belive Opera3 works much better on TS so could be a good excluse to upgade

Point 2 I have had a few of those its whenever a user crashes when raising an invoice or any document, the FRX gets renamed to a random temp file, if you arrange the files in a date / time you will see what I mean, then its a matter of simply renaming the tmp file back to whatever it was before e.g. 12345 back to INVOICE.FRX.

Point 3 seems like a duff index or blank in one of the tables, also search for ** AUTO ** in IH_DOC when no one is raising any new docs in SOP as there shouldn't be a ** AUTO ** line unless a user is raising a new doc i.e. before its posted for Opera to assign a number

We're still working on it. Currently focusing on Windows user profiles and printer drivers.

Hi Brian

We have a very similar situation to yourselves, this however is Opera 3 and running on hosted desktops. They have been having issues which now seem to be escalating. Initially we felt it would be the AV and have been assured the settings are all set correctly, unfortunately it isn't a site where we support the IT

The issues seem to be mostly around 1 user but she is the one that uses these routines mostly

Statement Run is halting, they now break it down into smaller batches but still can happen. When it happens the frx part of the report has disappeared, we put this back and the rest run fine. They do contract invoices and Batch process around a 1000 of these at a time (majority emailed) and this runs without a glitch

Also getting blank statements going out

File Accessing Errors - which is what alerted us to AV initially, had one today running a report. Logged back in and it all worked fine

Had the odd invoice that has the wrong header info, reprint and it is fine

Error 12 - getting intermittent error, if it happens it is always when deleting a Document, can delete multiple documents and then suddenly one will error, with or without running a UDS the document deletes fine after this

We have looked at all the comments on this post and asked that AV is checked again, ensured folder permissions are correct, due to the Error 12 and the odd incorrect invoice header and can't see any AUTO docs or anything else wrong

We are still looking and will update if we find anything and would be very interested if you find anything

I would try

Copy the company and any statement layout to a test company

Run Sysinternals Process Monitor and filter it to .frx and .frt extensions.

Do a statement run in the test company.

Examine the Process Monitor output for anything other than vfp9.exe and opera.exe accessing those file types.
