Infor Release Management (Canadian companies) - What's your experience?

Hi all community members - Our company is currently implementing Infor Cloud FSM and EAM solutions. As a Canadian public company, we've learned the pre-releases environment cannot be purchased in Canada (only available for US and Europe).

How do you handle the monthly releases?

What's your experience with the monthly releases? Do you have any customizations and any impact to the customizations?

Any input/ practice sharing will be appreciated.

Hey Leah,

We are not a Canadian company, but at this point we do not utilize pre-prod. Every month my team and I review the upcoming changes prior to the CU. Information is available in the "What's New", and the KB for release notes. We review how they will affect current process or customizations. This lessens the chance of any surprise Monday issues. We create communication and documentation for new or affected processes and share them with affected users. We start all of this a few weeks prior to the CU being implemented. We are working on refining our own processes and building on them as we learn new ways to manage the monthly updates.

This is similar to us. No Pre-PROD and review documentation then communicate to impacted departments. We have representatives from each area review the documentation with us as well. We do smoke tests on Saturday morning. We then check in with users early in the week following the CU to verify processes are running normal. On a qtrly basis we do a much more in depth comparison of LPL changes with our configurations.

I heard there is a bucket (S3) to stay behind a version. Is there anyone who is using this service?

We do have times where customizations or even our normal processes do break. We either have to adjust them, or if it is a bug from the CU then we open an Infor ticket. We do a variety of customizations.

We do not currently utilize the pre-prod environment and we have configurations and custom IPA's for HCM. We proactively review the Landmark Technology and Global HR release notes looking for items that might impact our customizations and reports. We proactively identify processes/forms/actions that need testing following the CU and prioritize whether to test either immediately after the CU is released in production or the week following. Additionally, we also rebuild our configurations annually to keep the source code relatively current. We've been live for 3 years and as we get more sophisticated in our comprehension of the release notes and delta documents, this has become easier for the team to manage.
