Performance & Goals Reminders

Hello- We are preparing to roll out our annual performance reviews and wanted to know if others have used the reminder features.  The "Create Appraisal Reminders" give an option for appraisals "due soon".

1. Does anyone know what the "due soon" means ( how far out?)

2.  Does anyone know if there is an option to set reminders for past due reviews?

Appraisal Due Date Alert is done via HR Org configuration Admin>setup>performance>Organization Configuration. Reminders are created via admin>performance>create reminders. Attach a email template, a custom group, and schedule or submit. Can set criteria via custom/eligibility group
