We've gotten some feedback about control over which of the menu icons (e.g. Notifications, Inbasket, Print Files, Jobs...) should be shown on them menu and which should be behind the ellipses (three dots) overflow menu.
To date, we've decided to show Notifications, Inbasket, Print Files as the icons that are on the menu. We feel these are mostly ubiquities and most used by most users. Of course they will only display to users if you have allowed them to show of course. However, you cannot say that Jobs or Actions should show up rather than Inbasket.
So, the key question to us is: who feels they need what level control over these and why? If control is needed, would it only be and end-user preference or setting?
