Possible to change the document header of ANY document in ION Scripts?

Hi,

I am working with a document flow for an ANY document where I use a script to look for certain values in the incoming file. Based on the values searched for, I want the document flow to either continue or end (with a filer). The script works fine, I get the result I want and the best scenario had been if I was able to use more than one output parameter from the script further in the document flow but still some limitations there. I therefore need something else to search for when I use the filter functionality in the flow after the script.

Since it is an ANY document, I only have the possibility to work with following attributes;

Do you know an easy way to rename some of the attributes of the header in a script? For example the location, documentId, documentName or MessageId?

Or maybe an better alternative without too complex setup?

Hi,

You cannot rename the existing attributes but can add one. It has to be in a proper naming convention like below.

I would encourage not replacing all Headers but rather augmenting the existing ones with other headers, primarily custom_ headers. Some headers can be changed but you need to consider the impact of changing them.

You can declare up to three custom headers in the data catalog and in the scripting output. These are defined in the ION Developers Guide under Message Headers

note that if your source was a text file from SMB/FTP formatted to XML, you can add the file details to the document as XML nodes.

# Example of access and adding to existing ION Document headers

# add a custom header with a UID value

import uuid

import json

# generate a Batch ID reference

batchUUID = str(uuid.uuid1())

# set payload output same as input payload

####

output_payload = input_payload

# load the json for the input headers

output_headers = json.loads(input_headers)

custom_guid = "custom_guid"

Hi,

Thanks, nice to know how to change the headers!

The problem is however that I need to get the content of the document as an output (and input) as well to determine how the header should be change and the limitation in ION Script at the moment is only one of the options.. Might be able to solve it with two separate script however, I found another work around for this, but thank you for the answer!
