Changes to existing d/EPM report not showing for all users

I am not sure if this is the correct thread for this question, but here it goes. I made a change to an existing report in Application Studio, saved the changes and checked back in the report. When I navigate to the report within the Web application BI FSM and run the BI report I see the changes dynamically. When our VP of Finance runs the report, they cannot see the updated data. So my question is "What am I missing?" I was under the impression that Application Studio was dynamic when a report is checked in, am I wrong.

Hi Becca,

depending on the changes you’ve made are you certain it isn’t permission related?

You can rule out caching issues by making a format change - update the background colour of a few cells to yellow or something that will stick out and check if this reflects for both users. If it does, the issue is almost certainly permission/variable related.

If it doesn’t, first make sure the user is signing out and back in, then clear cache and try again.
This may sound silly but make sure the other user is selecting the same report using the same method you are - ie via a menu (there may be variables being populated that are dependent on the report displaying correctly and going through the menu may be the only way these variables are updated).

The menu example would be a button on a page as oppose to the navigation via dashboards up top.

Hi Becca,

there is a setting in Repository Administration that can cache reports. You can check there

(General Settings / Application Studio Web Services / General Tab - report caching).

if report caching is enabled then you can disable and then do an iisreset to (or click the Gear icon) to refresh the webserver.

Thank you Ibrahim! Yes, definitely think it is security related. All the trouble shooting steps you listed we did, including the color, which showed dynamically with a different EU. Had worked with our security officer to grant elevated privilege's for the new dimension that we brought into the report for that user. We don't know how long it takes for the security changes to replicate through the data lake.

Can you be more specific about what changes arent showing for the user? Is it data related, it is conditional formatting related, is it something thats driven by a report or global variable?

Screenshots would help if thats possible.

We changed a report variable from default to top node. Myself and fellow developer can see the change in value for that cost center/account, however no other EU can see the change in the value. So we granted security rights to one EU for FinanceDimension5, however they can not see the change in value that we see. We are running the report in the Web Application BI FSM after checking in the report.

The code we altered is:

OLD VALUE:
<Row name="[Repository].[FSM].[GLTOT].[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5].[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5]"><Property name="element" value="[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5].[VMC/(blank.)]" /></Row>

UPDATED TO:
<Row name="[Repository].[FSM].[GLTOT].[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5].[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5]"><Property name="element" value="[GLTOT_FinanceDimension5].[VMC/2_TOP_NODE]" /></Row>

This is the only change we made, which brings in the value +/- for the cost center/account.
