Resubmitting original message - where does it start?

Hi,

In error BOD section of ION when we resubmit a message how does it work. If the error is inside a dataflow and the error is in the middle step does the original message get resubmitted from the start of the dataflow or where the error occurred?

Also, the document mentioned that if ION sent the error resubmit is not possible. What is the example of this?

It will be to the place where the error occurred. More specifically the resubmit will deliver the document back to the Source who generated the Confirm BOD (Which would be same as the 'ToLogicalId' in the original message).
Typically ION would raise a confirm BOD if its responsible for producing the delivery document (Typically via a technology connection point) but the input provided to it doesn't fulfil the contract. For example, If you want to write a file to a folder at the end of a document flow but the incoming document doesn't match with the defined file format template (like a missing mandatory field or a field with an invalid data type), then ION would raise this as a confirm BOD. You can extrapolate this to all activity types.

I see so if I create a workflow wherein it has a task to resubmit Error BODs I don't need to check whether resubmit can happen or not I can execute the resubmit as I wish?

Resubmit is an atomic action that resends the message to the mentioned destination with no context of the doc flow from which it originated. So, in your workflow if you know exactly which confirm BOD('s original message) you are resubmitting, you can resubmit it as you wish. Its no different than an admin looking up exactly which confirm BOD he/she wants to resubmit via the ION Desk UI and clicking the resubmit button (which is also a random event).
