Saving print output from recurring job
unknown
We run PA100 each day through a recurring (recdef) job. We send the output to a printer. In the interest of saving paper we would like to save the output electronically instead. In our current setup the previous day's print manager files are overwritten each time the recurring job runs.
I could write a process flow to rename the job each day. Is there a simpler way to preserve the print files electronically? Our ideal solution would output each day's results to a pdf file on a network directory, but preserving the reports in the Lawson format in the print directory would be OK.

We wrote a simple script to create a pdf copy of a report then save it with a date time stamp. The script is added to the recurring job.

We also run PA100 daily, however I have 7 jobs scheduled that each run weekly (e.g. PA100SUN, PA100MON, PA100TUE, etc.) so that the reports are available online for 7 days. I don't have the requirement to store these on a network drive, but if I did, I'd write a Process Flow to FTP them from the Lawson server and save them in the desired network location, renamed with the date ccyymmdd.

I wrote a 4GL program and script that basically executes the bldxffiles utility and convert a .prt file to pdf. The 4GL program can be added as second step to any recurring job to convert and save off the pdf to another location on the server or a network accessible mount point.

we sre in the process of developing an automatic process to run once a day (custom 4gl code and unix script) to determine which reports we want saved, convert them to csv/pdf using bldxffiles and then save them to a network share (we run on unix and have something called CIFS installed that maps unix to windows and allows us to save files)

We also wrote a shell script to create a pdf copy of the report then save it to a directory that the users are able to access. Have a project within the program list to save it to SharePoint. For the reports that are not needed to be access by several people we have used the "Daily Naming" convention of JOBNAMEMON, JOBNAMETUE, JOBNAMEWED.......
