Multiple Accounting Entity Relations Accounting Units for a Single Accounting Entity?

Has anyone found a way to have multiple Accounting Entity Relation Accounting Units for a single Accounting Entity?

For example, lets say I have Accounting Entities 10, 20, and 30 each with associated Balance Sheet Accounting Units 100, 200, and 300 respectively, and would like to create the following Accounting Entity Relations:

From 10-200 To 20-100
From 10-300 To 30-100

The system won't allow this because there can only be one associated Accounting Entity Relation Accounting Unit for each the Accounting Entity, thus it either has to be Accounting Unit 200 or 300 for Accounting Entity 10. If Accounting Unit 200 is used, it appears the only way to then accommodate inter entity postings for Accounting Entity 30 to Accounting Entity 10 is to use Accounting Unit 200 in the Accounting Entity Relation, which will then require a corrective journal each time there is a 10 to 30 inter entity posting, defeating the purpose of having the relation in the first place.

Any thoughts or ideas on how this inter entity relationship might be accomplished?

Yes, we have the Inter Entity Dimension in the FEG set to "Sub Account" and we have account 978099-00000 defined as both our Inter Entity Receivable and Payable account under the System Accounts of the FEG.

Attached is what our Inter Entity Relationship looks like between AccountingEntity/Company 0001 and 0002. So if we do an Inter-entity transaction between those Companies then Company 0001 would have a transaction/balance in 978099-00002 in their books while Company 0002 would have a balance in 978099-00001 in their books so we always know where the transaction/balance originated from.

The Inter Entity Accounting Unit defined on each Accounting Entity is used for all of their Intercompany balancing transactions.

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately you can't do that as only one default Inter-Entity Accounting Unit can be defined for each AccountingEntity record. We use the Sub-Account defined on the Intercompany Receivable/Payable System Account to somewhat accomplish what you are trying to do with Accounting Unit. How are you defining the ToEntitySubAccount and FromEntitySubAccount field values on your GLInterEntityRelation records?

We currently don't have any Sub Accounts populated on the Accounting Entity Relations, so I'll take a look at that.

Hi Tom,

In your configuration do you have the "Inter Entity Dimension" in the Finance Enterprise Group Options set to "Sub Account", and then only Sub Accounts defined for each Entity Relation so the Enterprise Structure System Accounting Unit is used in the inter entity transactions?

I've tested that so far, but I'm curious if that's the setup you were describing.

Thanks Tom! This helps a lot. I'm starting to realize the challenge we face here is likely due to how the Infor consultants who built our Finance Enterprise Group configured it; they didn't use the Accounting Unit dimension and instead labeled the Finance Dimension 1 "Accounting Unit", so we can't set an Inter Entity Accounting Unit on each Accounting Entity. Thanks again for your help!
