ISD query performance in the cloud

Wondering if others have experienced slow performance with ISD queries in the cloud? We are on prem and currently working on a project to move to the cloud. We noticed when we use ISD to query from the cloud, it takes significantly longer than it does on prem. A query of about 5000 employees is taking over 5 mins to finish from the cloud and only around 15 seconds on prem. Infor is stating over 5 mins is a reasonable amount of time. Trying to figure out if this truly is a normal response time or if we potentially have an issue.

Hi. We are implementing cloud now and recently did a review of ISD. It took about 5 mins to retrieve minimal data from a sample data set. I asked if it was due to us using the test environment and the response was that it performs the same in PROD. Assuming that’s the case across the board, I’d say this is standard for the cloud, and troubleshooting would likely produce the same result. Would love to be wrong though!

We have been on the cloud since July and yes ISD queries take significantly longer than on-prem. I would say Infor's statement is correct for that amount of data. I work in Supply Chain and run queries against our item master data and that can sometimes take over ten minutes to complete. It is one of the major pain points of transitioning to the cloud.

We were never on-prem, so can't speak to how quickly ISD runs in those situations. We have about 3000 active employees and how long a query takes to run is dependent on the complexity of the query. If it's something simple like employee ID and name, the query will run in about 30 seconds, but the more fields you add to the query, the more people (if we're looking at our terms too, for example) or the more you join different business classes, those all slow things down. There are definitely situations where I click "refresh" on a query and go refill my water or grab a snack! "Normal" response times vary and relate to the complexity of the query and amount of data you're looking to bring back. I will say that I haven't seen much difference with ISD between our TST/TRN/PRD environments in terms of the response time. Pretty much what you're seeing in your non-production environments will be what you get in PRD.
