Would like to load Error BOD documents in the Data Lake to Birst, but need to convert first to DSV?

Hello. We have a client that would like to bring ERROR BOD documents from the ION and the data lake into Birst. To my knowledge, the Birst Data Lake Driver cannot extract BOD data, so i think this would need to be converted first to DSV or JSON.

Anyone know how to do that? I was looking at the data lake flow builder, but didn't seem like you could do that using that tool. This is govcloud as well, in case that matters.

We typically do this with a python script to "flatten" the BOD to JSON on its way to the data lake. There's a few py libraries like xmltodict that make this pretty simple.

As Kane mentions, Python is a common approach to this. Note that the file will need to be ND JSON or DSV format for use by Compass.

What is your use case need? There are other was to provide analysis,/awareness of Error BODs that we could share.

Use case is the client doesn't really like the ERROR BOD reporting out of ION, and would like to do analytics and more reporting around it. But definitely interested in other mechanisms to provide analysis and awareness, if you could share?

I was aware of the python approach, but is that available in govcloud? Commercial side, i have the ability to insert scripting in a data lake flow, but on govcloud, I don't see that scripting component available in the data lake flow editor.

Note that when you get it into data lake, for Gov the Compass is not yet certified. So what was the plan from there? Read the data back in an external application using APIs?

We have assisted in various Error related solutions.

Reporting the number of errors per time interval for splunk dashboarding.

Refining and routing the error message to different support groups depending on what the error is and what the original BOD was.

Using the New Error BOD APIs to work with list and reconcile (not yet in Gov)

So is the ask on analytics and reporting, then suggest using the OneView APIs (and better yet Error BOD APIs) . We have some ION flows that run every hour (variable time) and sent out counts to a Workflow notification group.

Or were you thinking to orchestrate this externally? The APIs would be the same, and the data woudl be yours.

Or a blend, where the data is collected in ION flow, then sent (integrate) to your data source (limited to sFTP or API in Gov).

Thanks for the info, i'll do some research on those options and see what the client thinks.

I think the original plan was to take the information contained in the ERROR BOD, and load that into Birst via the Birst Data lake connection. From there, they could develop reports (detail and visual), dashboards, etc on it (probably similar to Splunk solution you referenced).

Is that a possibility?
