Reading XML parameter in Engine

Hi, We have passed a variable (string type) from App Studio containing an XML list of values of a dimension (Accounts) to an Engine's script for massive data processing and don't know exactly how to read it in Engine like a loop process, is anyone with experience about that and could provide an Engine's script or something as example?

Note: The parameter passed to the Engine has been used successfully in a hyperblock in App Studio for reading the values using Custom MDX statement

Try something like :

XMLDocument ColumnsDoc = XMLParseDocument(ColumnsXML);
XMLElementList columnsList = XMLXPathSelectElements(ColumnsDoc.GetRootElement(), "/Table/Row", XMLCreateNamespaceManager());

Hi Ivan, thanks for your answer, it looks like great, we have created the XMLDocument successfully but not able to build the loop to read the values, we are a bit noop on that nowadays, could you please provide us the XML based on your example or advise us according our XML:

Ah i see, that is a multiselect XML and not the property XML i was expecting.

In such case you can either change the code i sent to xpath to the MemberUName fields.

XMLXPathSelectElements -> change the xpath to /MultiSelect/StructureSelection/Member/MemberUName

and in the loop read the element text with another function.

You might need to supply the namespace in the namespace manager since your xml uses a namespace.

However in this cause maybe you can pass the multiselect values from app studio as some character separated string. So when passing the parameter to app engine call =MULTISELECTGETMEMBERSSIMPLE(your_xml,"|") which will get your element names and separate them with |. In app engine just call StringArray elements = xmlString.Split("|");
