Adding additional Attachment Fields

Hello, our HRIS department is asking if we can add additional attachment/documentation fields to for the Benefit Enrollment process. Currently, you have the capability to attach up to 3 files. I know within Configuration Console we can add fields but with these containing attachments such as pdf's or word document files, I feel like this isn't as straight forward. Has anyone added anything like this in the past? They are specifically asking if additional files can be attached under the Documentation section of the BenefitEnrollmentEvent.

I'm not positive on the Benefit Enrollment side, but I did something similar with the New Vendor request on the FSM side. Maybe something similar will work for you.

First, I created a Transient field on the Vendor business class to hold the attachment (type is Attachment).

Vendor is a BusinessClass

Transient Fields

TransientW9Attachment is an Attachment

default label is untranslatable:"VendorW-9Form"

That field was then added to the CreateVendorRequest form as a field.

The last piece to get it to update and be added to the attachments on the Vendor was to do an action configuration exit rule for the RequestNewVendor action.

RequestNewVendor is an ActionOverride

Exit Rules

if (TransientW9Attachment entered)

invoke Create VendorAttachment

invoked.VendorGroup = this instance.VendorGroup

invoked.Vendor = this instance.Vendor

invoked.Description = "W-9 " + current date

invoked.Attachment = TransientW9Attachment

Hello, we had to add an addition section to life events for additional attachments. My developers were not able to add additional attachments on the delivered section of life events. In addition, I submitted Infor enhancement 84096 for Infor to deliver more attachments.

Hello, I've previously added additional attachment fields by first creating a user field with Named Type of Attachment and add the user field to your form. Hope this helps!

Generically Yes, user field with Named Type of Attachment is the perfect way to add a fields that accept attachments of any acceptable file type. When you add the field to the UI, remember that Attachment is a group field made up of mime type, file name and the file blob. You can use “compact format” to display only a single field that lets you browse via file explorer. Or look at other example of the UI for other delivered attachment type fields.

As for the Documentation section of the BenefitEnrollmentEvent. You could review these fields and bus classes to see what is going on and what is possible. See LPL viewer and start with the form or list you use in Benefits. I’m not super familiar with this app area and you may not need the generic user field approach here.

Thank you, it does help. I have reviewed the LPL for the BC but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be as straight forward as adding an additional user field with the type of attachment.

Is there a way, using the Attachment Named Type, to change the label on the file upload field? I can't seem to get it to change from "File". I've tried on the form LPL and in the field itself, but since it's a combo of 3 fields, not sure how to get it to change...

You can call out the field member individually vs. using "compact format" on the single Attachment group field. E.g.

MyAttachmentFieldName.File
label is "Thingy"

MyAttachmentFieldName.Ttile

MyAttachmentFieldName.MimeType
