Automated customer order entry

Hi Community,

Is anyone using automated customer order entry, integrated into visual.

IE OCR scanning of sales inbox, collecting the required fields and creating a customer order if all the fields match , part number, pricing etc.

What software did you use and who did the work, we would like to put something in and not start from scratch.

I know just enough to be dangerous :0) We have automated Customer Order Entry from our Ecommerce websites, through a mapping work directory created by Saberlogic (although Visual Business owns it now). A text file is sent from our websites with all the key information from the order into the work directory and maps all the data necessary into Customer Maintenance, Contact Maintenance and Customer Order Entry. It is old technology since we are running on 7.2.1. When we upgrade to 10 we won't use this anymore, we will use API. I would contact Aktion Associates (they are doing a new distribution ERP for us). They are an Infor Partner and can probably help you with this.

Hi Adam,

While not specific to OCR, we have automated several things such as customer order entry from our Shopify website directly to Visual. We write C# applications using the Synergy Business Objects. The C# programs run like middleware. At the time we went with the Synergy Resources business objects because Visual stopped supporting their development tools/sdk. Since then, I believe Infor Visual started offering an SDK again so that you can do this type of integration in a similar manner. Not exactly sure what it is called.
