Handheld Scanners used with MSCM
Legacy Contributor
We recently upgrade to v10.0.6 Lawson, and MSCM 10.1.5.1. We are currently using the Motorola MC75a scanners and looking at upgrading hand held scanning devices. The MC75a has been a very durable and dependable device for us, requiring very little maintenance and support, however, they are coming to the support lifecycle.
I am curious which hand held scanners others are using with Lawson and MSCM v10. Please also share your pros/cons.
Also, are you using Mobile Device Center, SOTI or a different product with your hand held scanners. Please share pros/cons.
TIA

We are starting to transition to MC55A0's. We also use the MC75A. I worked with the vendor Emkat. They are extremely knowledgable and helpful with any mobile device questions or problems.

Over the last year we've been having problems with the MC75A's display failing. Only had them for 3 years before this started. We've been sending them to Emkat for repair at $245 a pop but now we have one of the first ones that was repaired by Motorola failing again. So we're looking at replacing them with the MC55A0-HC.

Hi,
We have the MC55A0 and so far have had good luck with them. We have been up and running since February of this year. So in regards to display issues, we haven't run into problems but we also have not had them very long.
Other than a few folks complaining about the complexity of the handhelds (keep in mind these users are not great with technology of any kind), they have been fairly well accepted.

We have Honewell Dolphin 99EX's, but have an ongoing issue of "black screen syndrome" - users are going about their counting or picking and all of a sudden the screen is black (although the program still appears to be running) and unusable. For the last three years we treated this as a hardware problem and returned the units. Now, however, Honeywell doesn't want them back and is working with Infor on changes go the MSCM .cab files as they think it is a software problem more than hardware....
