How to extract a Sales Report discriminated by Item on a monthly basis?

Hello, M3 Community!

I've been trying to dig up some information regarding these types of reports on M3, and recently I've found that the program "OSS415 - Sales Statistics/Budget Display" would allow me to extract a report on sales according to the needs mentioned in the heading question.

Since I've never worked with the program, I might be doing something wrong. Therefore, any help is very much appreciated.

When using the program and setting my preferences for a test, I get this message saying " Period type does not exist.".

The period type is set on the program OSS401 and I've used an option configured in M3 that uses the Period Type = 1, is there something esle escaping me on the proccess?
How could the paramethers be set so that the message disappears and I get the report desired?

I also take this moment to ask if there's any other method or procedure to get a sales report discriminated by item on a monthly basis. If so, what are the options?

i use those programs in my companies. if you want we can compare settings.

This created a table OSBSTD where you can also look at data

Hi,

i would say it highly depends on the purpose, scope and frequency of that report.
Most of the time, M3 works in three layers.

1.) Spot information, few items, not used frequently, you normally go into the appropriate program to get the info you need
2.) Aggregated Info, derrived values, item groups or ranges, regularily used you would primarily use AhHoc Reporting AHS110/200
3.) Company level information, Aggregation, drill down ability, Groups, Ranges or combinations of "All items", Large scale, Regular Information, Information Cockpit, you would use a Report System like Microsoft Reporting Server (SQL) on a pulled Databasis, BIRST, Power BI on top or directly from the Datalake

Thanks for replying.

After many tests I was able to come around the problem. It turns out I introduced to many arguments in OSS415. It's working just right.

Anyhow the report shows the accumulated sales per client on level1, the porpouse of the report would be to show the accumulated sales per item on level - 1.
I've returned to OSS401 and created a new data set to show only - UCITNO - Item number, automaticaly the new dataset turned to Satus = 10 - Preliminary - Do you know how to activate the dataset?

if I remember well in OSS401 you can just right click /related / activate.

you need to create proper accumulation fields in order to look data in the way you need. Anyway OSS412 is very basic and also the report OSS415 is very basic. you should find better results reading the table OSBSTD or creating a report in AHS110 based on that table.

Sounds like you have come around the problem with period type.

I have used OSS412/415 for ad-hoc analysis. But with sales statistics, my experience is that the user would like an table-extract to Excel or Datawarehouse to make their own analysis. In that case I would recommend extracting OSBSTD with SQL if you are on-prem.

In Cloud Edition I have both extracted OSBSTD to Excel using DBeaver with JDBC-connection to Datalake and I have made a custom report in Birst/M3 Analytics by extracting from Sales Area.
