Pulling CSV File from CSD Tenant and Pushing to SFTP Server

Hello Team,

I am running a SARSU report in CSD, which generates a CSV output file at Tenant folder location (reports/Tenant_Name). Can I set up an SFTP/FTP connection, which picks up file from Tenant folder on monthly basis and push it to a third party FTP/SFTP shared folder ? Any document or video or instructions on this will be really helpful, this will help me get started on this.

At present, we are simply running a SARSU and emailing the output csv file directly from the SARSU code and then placing the files manually at FTP/SFTP shared folder. We have started observing issues with email, where recipient does not receive the file if the size exceeds the permitted limit. To solve this, I am trying to implement some solution, which can directly place the file at the FTP/SFTP shared folder.

If there can be a better way to do this, please suggest that as well.

You can of course handle this through an external application, but, I would be interested to hear if someone have solved this purely inside ION/IOS.

Andrew - You have two choices, at the moment, for CSD Reports directory. One is using Dropbox, as you can set up connections to Dropbox and then "print" to it, where the file would copy over to Dropbox.

The second is the FileTransfer API. You can Put and Get files using this API. Put has a higher file size limit and is based on Internet Speed. I have seen up to 80mb, but for safety, tell my customers 50mb. The Get will be limited to 5mb, for the base64encoded value of the File; as that is the BOD size limit in ION, for Essentials Tier. If your customers have Professional or Enterprise Tiers then they may have a higher file size limit. The thought process here, is to trigger an ION API Flow to pickup the file and pass it wherever is needed through the various File Connectors available.

Should you have issues with file sizes, Dropbox is the only path. I have some customers that were able to get an S3 Bucket code from Infor, and they are using that. Chris Weaver mentioned, on the TUG Roundtable call last Friday, that Infor is working on a direction S3 connection for all Tenant Tiers.

I have not had the opportunity to put this case into practice.
But I think that indeed by declaring adequate connection points in ION Desk, the source directory could be scanned on a regular basis by playing around with the settings and the target directory (on a shared file server or FTP) should be able to receive this file passing through ION without necessarily a transformation task.
It will certainly be necessary to create file templates.
But it seems feasible to me.

I got a similar case, but not sure this helps though,

I’m using CSF and I wanted to transfer m3 out XML file to an FTP location. In that case, I use ION Data flow and it is watching the M3File transfer location. Once the file comes in the data flow picks the file and transfers it to the target location.

Thanks Brandon, some good information provided here.
Dropbox seem like a good option, but I also assume this is a charged service.

Like I indicated previously, you can create your own, internal, .Net REST API site and connect it to ION so it acts as internal API's. This way you control the limitations in your code vs. rely on Infor standard limitations.
This way you can also rely on any FTP software that you can host on your internal server (there's a lot of good, free, software options that you can script out the functionality in etc.).
Again, this requires you to code it yourself though.
