Infor Spreadsheet Designer - Toggling Between Production and Test

Hey everyone,

So there are many situations where we upload data into our test infor environment before we upload it into our production environment. I keep running into the problem where in order to change from our test environment into our production environment for ISD in Excel, we have to close out ALL Excel workbooks. It is very disruptive to our flow of work to have to close everything out, then re-open everything and sign into ISD in our desired environment.

Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to toggle ISD between servers/environments? I feel like a logout function would be useful here.

A common complaint from me also, following this in the hope there is a simple solution!

That's the only way I know of. It's like if you have multiple GHR HROrganiazations. You can only query from or load to the HROrganization you are currently accessing through GHR even if you specify the HROrganization in the upload or in a filter.

Being able to toggle between environments would be wonderful. It's a pain to log completely out of excel just to switch.

My "cheat" to not have to close all of my Excel files is the following:

In Excel, go into File/Options/Add-ins.
Select COM Add-Ins from the Manage field drop down.
Click Go.
UNcheck the box next to Infor Spreadsheet Designer for Microsoft Excel
Click OK. (This disables the add-ins)
Repeat steps 1-5 but, in step 4, CHECK the box this time. (This enables the add-ins and prompts you to log in so you can log into a different system without having to close Excel)

It's not ideal but I find it much better than closing my files.

This has also bothered me at times. Maybe it's worth putting in an enhancement request, if one doesn't already exist?

I'm not familiar with developing COM add ins for office products, but there might be a limitation preventing them implementing a connection change function like this. Still maybe worth putting in an ER since there seems to be some consensus on this issue.

The workaround I use is to open a new instance of Excel. To do so, hold the ALT key while opening Excel - a dialog box will appear and ask you to confirm you wish to open a new instance. Specifically, I access the START menu, scroll down to the Excel link, hold ALT down and then click to open Excel and keep holding ALT down until the dialog box presents. This will allow you to log into multiple environments with SSD simultaneously. This is also a nice feature when processing a long running query - do so in a separate instance of Excel and then you can continue to work in the other instance of Excel while the query chugs along.
