Running UNIX scripts from Portal
unknown
Does anyone have a straightforward way for allowing users to run custom UNIX scripts (we are HP-UX) from Lawson Portal? We can do it by defining a custom token and submitting it as a Lawson batch job but this doesn't work in cases when it is necessary to prompt the user for a value. We'd like to eliminate our use of custom menu tokens in LID now that we are on version 10. Thanks.

You can pass values to the scripts via job parameters of a multi step job.

If you have IPA and Design Studio, you can create a trigger page in Design Studio and have IPA run the Unix Scripts for you.

I am on Sun Solaris with environment 10.0.6.x and have a series of scripts in the $GENDIR/cgi-bin that dynamically build a web page which then invokes Unix scripts when the web page is submitted. I created a link on the dashboard to the script which the user clicks. I am able to pass in parameters via fields on the dynamic web page.
It is my understanding this method will no longer work under 10.0.8 due to enhanced security restrictions imposed by Infor. I have used this method under 8.0, 9.x and now 10.0.6.

Yes with 10.0.8 LSF you can no longer use cgi-bin for custom scripts. You'll need to create a virtual host that references a new location like cgi-custom. Then move all your custom scripts to that new location.

If I run from a custom location such as "cgi-custom" will I have access to Lawson environmental variables cush as PRODLINE and REMOTE_USER?

I had the same issue and never did figure out how to get them back. I could control the product line by the script. We were using remote_user before but after researching the scripts we really didn't need it so we used generic accounts. Hope that helps.
