Is there a way to assign a course via mass enrollment but not assign to a specific event associated with that course?
We could not agree with this anymore! We have put through this enhancement request as well!!

Depending on the requirements, you can utilize Distribution to just assign the course. However, if you wanted to use the Attendance Data Import Tool, it would require an event to be used. After thinking about this, you could create a 'Place Holder" event that is used for those users during the ADI Import process, then delete or remove the Event from the LMS. Users would still be assigned to the Course, but not to an event. This isn't ideal as there is some manual work, however, it is a potential solution
Hi Patrick, Yes, we have discussed that, this was not an ideal scenario for us. Ideally we would not have the manual work and we can upload the user assignment within the attendance data import. Automatic distribution was not possible in our example, as our users did not have a common individual attribute and there were over 300 users needing to be assigned and then the possibility of selecting what classroom event they would like to enroll in to.
We did use this method (Patrick described above), but you're right it does require a manual lift. Good for short term solution, but if this was a class that was going to be long term I can see how you wouldn't prefer to have to do it manually.
