Microsoft are currently rolling out "Modern" authentication on O365. We are having to manually change it back to basic for Opera to continue sending payslip emails but basic will not be available after 31/12/2022. Pegasus Software do not feel the need to re-write their communication method.
What does everybody else think?
Thanks
Rick

My understanding (from a fairly brief look) is that in the case of SMTP AUTH in particular it will only be disabled on tenants that are detected as not using it, and even then can still be re-enabled for individual mailboxes.
Thanks Alan, yes i've was fed some incorrect information from a customers It department, Like you say - user emailboxes can be enabled...
Enable SMTP AUTH for specific mailboxesOpen the Microsoft 365 admin center and go to Users > Active users.Select the user, and in the flyout that appears, click Mail.In the Email apps section, click Manage email apps.Verify the Authenticated SMTP setting: unchecked = disabled, checked = enabled
