Best way to pull in default values from a Parameters form on new record

I am working on a modification to save users time when entering data on a form by having them populate UET fields on a Parms form that when they create a new record in another form it will populate that default value. I have tried adding the Parms to the form as a subcollection (but there is no link by for a parms form) and I have tried adding a Secondary Collection to the form. In both scenarios I cannot get any data from the parms form to populate on a field in the form. I was wondering if anyone has a way they have accomplished something like this before. It seems so simple and I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with it.

The user is trying to save a record on one ido and you want another record to populate on a different IDO? Have you tried event system? Action where when a record is inserted on one IDO it will insert values from that record insertion into another IDO?

I did try that but wasn't successful because the record doesn't exist yet. Basically they have some questions they would like to default into these memo fields and then as they are creating the new record they answer the questions in each box. This way when they print the report it includes the questions and answers. I eventually was able to use a global variable to hold the value. I put the UET fields on the parameters form, then added an event to update the global variable value when changed. Then on the other form I created an event on new that will pull the global variable value into the property. It was a lot more steps then i thought would be necessary to call data from another IDO but in the end it worked for what we needed. I'm sure this will come up again in the future so I am always interested to hear how others have accomplished this. We are still rookies in the AES side of things but do try to explore that when possible.
