About the Suggested Search Results List
When a Knowledgebase user enters three or more letters in the Search field, directly below it, a list of suggested search results appears.
This suggested search results list appears before the user clicks the Search icon, or presses the keyboard’s Enter key, to complete the search.
About Lookup Terms
A Lookup Term is a search term (a word or phrase) used to return search results in the suggested search results list. They are created in Knowledgebase Admin.
The items that appear in the list of suggested search results correspond with the Lookup Term—and its associated See Also Term(s) (if any)—that best matches the search term entered.
The managed list of Lookup Terms helps users find the best search results quickly.
About See Also Terms
A See Also Term is a synonym (individual word or phrase) that is associated with a Lookup Term.
See Also terms are always associated with a Lookup Term; they are not stand-alone.
A Lookup Term can include one or more See Also Terms.
When a user’s search entry matches a See Also Term, its associated Lookup Term search results appear in the suggested search results list.
About the Completed Search Results List
The completed search results list appears after the user clicks the Search icon, or presses the keyboard’s Enter key, to complete the search.
These search results correspond with the keyword that best matches the search term entered.
About Keywords
A keyword is a search term used to return results in the completed search results list.
Keywords are assigned to individual documents on the customer’s Knowledgebase site.
Matching Keywords with Lookup Terms
To improve search returns, match documents’ keywords with Lookup Terms—and their associated See Also Term(s) (if any). This strategy helps to:
Expedite searches:
Preferred documents are favored in the suggested search list.
Realize consistent search results:
The items that appear in the completed search list will better reflect the items in the suggested search list.
