with as involved as I have been with our benefits department and my position being within the IT department focusing on Infor GHR as a whole and not one department specifically - I began to wonder how other organizations/businesses allocate resources for the benefits department or other high need departments. Does your company have a position that is within your IT department but focused on the benefits department (or other single departments) and all that entails to IPAs and any technical configurations within Infor? OR does your company have a position within the benefits department (or other departments) that requires the IT background knowledge and able to support the department directly creating an almost self sufficient department with true 'IT related' requests for FTP or other data etc?
there are settings within benefits (and other areas) that do require technical understandings to produce reports and page requests etc that I can understand a department manager questioning if they should know how to handle the requests or if that falls in the hands of IT Infor analysts.
I'm curious to know how much reach does your IT Infor GHR analyst go into the departments settings/configurations/rules/etc and how much is expected from the department?
I can see both sides where a company would have an IT position that handles all GHR related items for various departments - or where they have an Infor GHR expert directly within the department creating a sort of partnership with that department position and the IT analysts.
Let me know how your organization approaches this. Thank you for reading and commenting on this dicussion.
