GEO CODE for USE/SALES Taxes in the Unites states

Our Tax code provider is using a Geo code that is 10 digits long.

M3 table for the GeoCode are only 9 digits long. (Vertex has 9 digit geo Code)

The mapping we did to convert codes from 9 digits to 10 digits is very tedious.

Has someone our same problem? can you share your solutions?

I don't know the exact details but I am aware that we faced the same issue and introduced a workaround, where the 10 digit code is stored elsewhere and MEC retrieves it from there for the states that are using 10 digits.

We are on-prem using 13.2 so having to introduce these sorts of workarounds isn't exactly unexpected for us, but hopefully MT customers will be getting a 10 digit field in the near-future (if not already).

on Premise we did not have issues now in the MT we investigate a new process. The best would be to have a longer geo code field. I opened a ticket but the answer is (more or less) that the geo code is 9 digit according to Infor analysis. I think I open and ER

I solved this same problem several years ago by making the below assumption, which allows me to handle Unique Geo-Locations in the 9 position code (this can be used with standard information available out there that are NOT Vertex).

FIPS State 2 digit FIPS State code

FIPS County 3 digit FIPS County code

Zip-Code 5 digit Zip Code (use last 4 for M3)

2 + 3 + 4 = 9

M3 Geocode 9 digit M3 geocode
