Using IE Lawson Portal in compatibility mode
cmcconke
I am on LSF 9.0.1.11 which can support up to IE9.0; however I know you can access Lawson on IE10 and IE 11 using compatibility mode. I know Infor's stance is they don’t support using compatibility mode however our company is looking to upgrade everyone to IE10. Has anyone else moved their Lawson portal to a compatibility list for IE 10 and or 11?

I'm seeing PC's deployed with 9, 10 and 11. The Lawson user base is small in my organization compared to all the other applications. Needless to say we take a back seat to what is installed on the desktop. What is compatibility mode (what makes it different) and why is there an opposing stance to it? Thank you.

We use IE10, for the most part, with compatibility view. Some users have 11 and are functioning okay with compatibility view. RQC users cannot use IE11.
I don't know why Infor has problems with compatibility view.

We use IE9 for most of our users, however, we have external users accessing ESS using IE10 and IE11. We added an X-UA-COMPATIBLE header to our web server so that it would put the user's browser in compatibility mode. We have not had any issues with our current 9.0.1 version doing this.
However, if you are planning an upgrade to Lawson S3 10, you can't use compatibility mode because S3 10 doesn't support IE7 which is what compatibility views acts like. But it shouldn't be an issue anymore since they supprt at least IE10.

Many of our external users accessing ESS have upgraded their home computers to IE11. Are you saying that Infor Lawson S3 10 won't work for them?

ESS has different browser requirements than Portal. The acceptable browsers are listed in the EMSS Release documentation. We are using EMSS 10.0.4 with applications 9.0.1.6. We found that during our annual enrollment, people using IE11 were able to make enrollment selections, but received errors at the end of the enrollment process. This caused their enrollment selections to be lost.

The list of ESS supported browser's is only valid if ESS is accessed directly, not through the Lawson portal. If ESS is accessed through the portal, then you are subject to the browser's supported by Portal. The Portal is not a factor with Infor Lawson S3 10, being delivered via the Workspace/Ming.le Foundation. So the question to be clarified is - does Ming.le Foundation and ESS work with IE11?

We access ESS 10.0.4 directly via links to the individual functions from our intranet. Most users do not access ESS via Portal. We found that ESS annual enrollment using IE11 from the direct links produced errors.

Thank you for your responses. My main concern was is there issues with portal in compatibility mode that I have not discovered.
We have not tested portal extensively using this mode, however we had several users this year complete their open enrollment with IE10 and IE11 using compatibility mode without any issues. I will move in this direction until we can upgrade to 9.0.1.14 or 10.
Thanks

Hi all -
According to the Compatibility matrix posted on Infor Xtreme Support under documentation, here are your options:
You can run ESS/MSS 10.0.5 either separately (directly addressable) or within Infor Ming.le on IE 11. If you are run within Infor Ming.le, then you must be running Lawson System Foundation 10.0.5, Lawson for Infor Ming.le (Portal) 10.0.5, Infor Ming.le 11.0.5/11.0.7 or 11.1, and ESS/MSS 10.0.5 to be on a supported IE 11 configuration.
I believe that you can run ESS/MSS 10.0.5 OUTSIDE of Ming.le/Portal on many different LSF/App versions - check the matrix.
Hopefully that answers the questions here.

We have been in compatibility mode since Microsoft pushed out IE11, and have had no problems in either Portal or in ESS (we're at EMSS 10.0.3.0.09). In fact we just completed our annual benefit enrollment and this time had just a small handful of employee's with errors.
