Can I invoke an action on a related business class from an exit action?

I'm new to LPL so forgive me if this is off the wall, but for instance, I want to do something like use the PurchaseOrderLineRel in PurchaseOrderBuyerMessage to call the PurchaseOrderLineRel Release action from an exit action. I know I could write an IPA and put it in the exit action, but it would be nice if I could use built in functionality.

Our buyers are requesting that we release (if appropriate) a PO when a buyer message is released.

It might look something like this in Action or Exit Rules, depending on your requirements of the transaction:

invoke Update ActorOrgUnitRel

invoked.effective date = effective date

invoked.ParentOrgUnit = HROrganizationUnit

invoked.DataImport = DataImport

Generically:

invoke <actionName> <Relation>

perfect thanks I was trying backwards like <relation>.<actionname>

I think what I am trying will not work because the release isn't complete until the exit action completes and so the related action I'm trying to call is failing because there is a buyer's message. Looks like I need to re-evaluate this and try something else.

You could try adding an explicit commit transaction prior to invoking the other action on the relation (cf. page 50 of the current version of the LPL guide). If it's the case that the invoked action isn't seeing the committed results of the original action this may help, though take heed of the warning in the LPL guide and test thoroughly...
