Comment field in Talent Management v 10.2

We are new implementation for TM 10.2.
This week we found out there is no way to see Comments added at the action level except in the audit log and then you cannot see the entire note. We find this troublesome and are curious how others make notes/comments relating to employee resources, like notes about their termination... left in a rage, left a post it note and walked off... anything we would want to capture for reference.
Also looked at using the Comments on At a Glance section but for one thing, it's our understanding the Employee can see these comments from their Employee Space...plus the text can be overwritten and again only 100%viewable in the audit log.. I made a note the same time someone else did and my comment was only in the audit log.. no warning we both making note at the same time.
In the audit log, you are unable to see the comment note in its entirety.
Anyone who has already been through this or able to share, we would greatly appreciate it.
I am also making another post relating to 'set as of date' that we found troublesome.
