I've not been able to create a single report that pulls both PO (nonstock) and IC (stock) item usage. I have a PO history Crystal report that includes account info. It's not pretty because I just export the data to Excel. And IC220 has always served me well for inventory usage.

Not sure if this fully addresses your question, but this info may be helpful:
"Usage" is normally associated with issues from perpetual inventories, thus necessitating the use of ICTRANS (which will contain the Accounting Unit and Account). If you need the long description for the Accounting Unit, you can link to the GLNAMES table; if you need the long description for the Account, you can link to the GLCHARTDTL table. If you need the GL category, link ICTRANS back to the applicable Location's ITEMLOC record.
As Jon stated, when we're looking for a combination of issues from perpetual inventories as well as their LUM PO counterparts to create a "more complete" usage picture for our central storeroom items, we also run a separate POLINE or PORECLINE query, dump to Excel, then use MS Access to join an ITEMLOC export (a baseline) to both the ICTRANS data to the PORECLINE data (using a "left outer join"). Access'ing just the ICTRANS and PORECLINE tables will only return "joined" records.
Trust me, it's harder to articulate than it is to accomplish!
Hope this helps!

ICTRANS doesn't give the accounting unit and account for issues from an RQ source. To get this you have to link to MMDIST. Also I've found duplicate data if a line was broken into multiple shipments.

On the original question - Is "GL acct#" the account (4 character) or accounting unit (6 character)? We call the 4 character GL and 6 character Cost Center or Department.
We have the IC11 Issue Account (4 character) populated. The GL is determined by Charge Management and is therefore set at a company level. So "GL#" for us is on IC11 and is pulled into any report with the Lawson number.
From there - like Jon - we have PO Usage (the replenishments and spend) and floor usage (the IC reports) I don't have the issue with RQ10 vs IC21 as the GL is controlled by the Item Master for me.

I was assuming cNowaki meant both the accounting unit (cost center) and account (expense code or GL as you call it). We consider both of these the "account information". And we include activity and account category in this for capital.
Kat- If you control the GL/expense code at the item master level, how do you handle items like gloves that would be medical supplies in patient care areas but might be considered cleaning supplies in the business areas?
unknown
The business areas have medical supply budgets and it would be keyed to the same account as the clinical side. Ex: Alcohol Prep pads are gen med surg regardless of which department orders it. That culture apparently predates Lawson and goes back to the old mainframe days.
Charge Management in Finance periodically goes through and changes the GLs as the reimbursement matrix changes and when we create new items, they verify the GL is correct for us. No one else is authorized to change the account.
As it's Corporate Finance any arguements about the budget dollars are done internally - I know the meshes caused a fuss at the start of our fiscal year. But it's considered a Finance issue.

Hi all, thanks for all the feedback, very valuable information. When I say Account I mean the 6 digit Account (expense code). Our Supply Chain is looking to determine why a certain Account (expense code) is overbudget this year compared to last year. I ended up using the PO History sql report that I have which does pull from the MMDIST for X & N type items, as well as the ICCategory for I type items.

I hesitated on responding but would the MM280 work. Select your Fiscal year then under the Main tab leave the Acct Unit Sel....blank which would include ALL Account Units. Then lower down on the page under Account Select I Include Selected Accounts and then in the Account field key in the Account. Once it runs create a CSV file and then you can work with that. Not sure if that will work or not.
