Temporary Direct Manager

Hello,

Has anyone used or created a way to display the name of a Temporary Direct Manager on the Employee Space Profile?

We found a business need to display not only the direct manager but a temporary direct manager (in the cases where the position is currently vacant and reporting up the the next level above manager).  This would be not only seen by the employee, but other users who view the employee to find a resources current direct manager.

I found code in employee business class for TemporaryDirectReport and we have an icon in the Manager Space that identifies if a resource is a Temporary Direct Report, however I need to reverse this to display a name for a temporary direct manager in the case that one exists.  

I believe we may have to build a derived field but looking for any use cases or a good starting point.

If the temporary manager in this case is always the next one up the line,

ActivePrimaryWorkAssignmentRel.DirectSupervisor.ParentSupervisor.first ActiveAssignmentIsSupervisorWorkAssignment.Employee.Name.PreferredFirstAndLastName translation

 

This will get the name of the Parent Supervisor or boss's boss. If you want a field to show one, it would just be a derived field to show that if the direct supervisor was vacant. I may have misunderstood the request though.
