Unix scripts to Windows
JasenLam
We are planning to move Unix/Lawson 9x to Windows/Lawson 10x. I have lots of Unix scripts what is the best way to bring them to windows. Is every one re writing them in windows or using them as it is.

If you install a POSIX compliant subsystem like SUA or SFU you can run them just as they are - well some may need a little tweaking - BASH Vs Korn...

I would rewrite them in Perl since we already have some in-house perl experience and I'm pretty sure that's what Lawson is doing/recommending for any clients that go to the cloud.

We are moving to cloud V10 and all of our Unix script that we needed to convert needed to be rewritten in Pearl. I would say these were not difficult just takes time to code, test and move.

We are also moving from 9x Unix to 10x Windows (on premise). We have several 9x unix scripts that we are migrating using a variety of tools. We have found that moving business process automation to Infor IPA is working well for us.
We have also migrated several admin (automated reboots / system monitoring) scripts to native Windows Powershell - these work very well.
Unfortunately, for the more complicated Unix scripts, the LUU / SUA tools did not migrate scripts successfully. This week we purchased and installed two MKS toolkit licenses. We will find out soon if this tools works well for us. I'll be happy to re-post with results as we find them.

We are also doing the same thing - migrating to Lawson 10 on Windows platform from AIX Unix. From this posting, I take it that it's much easier to convert Unix scripts to Perl than Windows scripts? What about calling some Windows specific technologies like the built-in scheduler or Windows Security GPO? Does Perl provide all those calls/interfaces as well as Windows scripts?
we are in the information gathering phase. Any information or lessons learned from your installation is greatly appreciated.
thank you for posting this good information.

Our service provider is still installing Lawson 10 on windows. Now I am still trying to figure out how to move forward with scripts and scheduled jobs etc...
Questions
is LID on windows function as it did on Unix too.
How hard it is to install/manage POSIX compliant subsystem like SUA and show me where it is
windows scripts vs perl or power shell ?
