Requiring Termination Date

Does anyone have Lawson S3 version 10 setup to require termination when a term PA52 action is entered. We are often having HR staff not include the term date when entering in the terminations. My leadership is asking is there a way to make it required or when they do not enter a term date a pop up displays to say check term date field.

Try the HR10.1 form inquiring on Topic E1 - Employee Master. You can make the field Required by checking the box next to the Data Item of Termination Date. In doing this, I believe the field will always be required though when updated by an action. Meaning it cannot be blank if a Rehire is processed. A better option might be to setup IPA to query records where an employee is in a specific status and the Termination Date field is not populated. You could also use Add-ins to query records that meet specific criteria as well.

You can't require the Termination Date until you want to have a date in that field for all employees. It may be possible for you to have the Form Designer create a new version of PA52 for terminations. But you are better off just running a report daily or a Process Flow that looks for any "Active" Employees with a Termination Date. We usually find these when our Benefit staff is reviewing the daily BN100.

I was thinking requiring on HR10 would affect all employees requiring all to have a term date but if its only for the action then this would be awesome.

we have a report that provides everyone that's missing a termination date. leadership keeps bringing requiring but my report is not matching the numbers that leadership is being told. I need to do more digging on how they are getting the details of people missing term dates.

What about a user exit on the PA52? You could use specific criteria, like when the action is "Terminate" (or whatever your action is named), require Termination Date. We have several user exits setup by our technical staff on the PA52 to ensue data is entered correctly.
