OR Inventory - Perpetual or PAR

Just trying to get a feel for how other organizations manage OR Supplies. We are a 5 hospital systems with our 2 major hospitals using perpetual inventory with IC12s and the others using a PAR. We are thinking about going to all PARs to reduce the maintenance and resource touch points in managing all the case picks and returns.

Please respond with whether you use Perpetual Inventory, PARs, or Both to manage your OR supplies.

we use pars....the work required to manage as perpetual was horrible...

We use par and template locations with distributor direct ordering from the vendor. We used to have perpetuals, but distributor direct is much easier.

We are using perpetual inventory, but using many work arounds and are looking for ways to improve management of OR supplies, PAR is an option we've discussed. For a number of our items, they are managed like a PAR, but technically are setup as perpetual inventory in IC12. Some template ordered items, but most are inventory.

We have par locations in Sterile Processing and the ORs. Several SPD staff and a material handler in the OR (materials staff) order using handhelds. Implants are processed by OR Purchasing Coordinators (OR staff).
