Is there a way on the work order traveler screen to set it, to when you print a barcode, it sets the * in the code? Also, does anyone know if you can add this to the operation write-ins on that visual screen?

not sure what you are asking. in the QRP, I use something like this (all caps, no blank spaces):
'*' || (WO_BASE_ID) || '*'
