WellSpan is looking at using this Alternate item function and have several questions.
We need to show two bar codes on our labels as we transition to a new numbering series. We plan on printing new Par labels with BOTH bar codes. When selecting the NEW numbers as the Alternate to the OLD number, which shows up on the PO? the OLD number of the new?
As an alternative to using IC13.1, can a user field hold the NEW number and still be used to generate a valid Barcode for when the new numbers take effect in the new listings when the scanners are reprogrammed to the new source? This would be an alternative approach to using IC13, but would be more cumbersome to the end users to know when the new code takes effect.
Has anyone done a transition of this type and had any luck with dual barcoding processes? Any suggestions would be helpful.
