Personalizations or Configurations - preventing from seeing standard delivered forms etc from CUs

With any personalization made on any page - we are prevented from seeing the delivered standard content to that page/form etc. This is a known issue with Infor and there is currently no 'flag' or sort to alert a user they are using a personalized page/etc and not a standard delivered page. In recent weeks this has led our members to troubleshoot longer than needed until they realized their personalized page kept them from seeing the data correctly And these personalization's are any extra fields or columns you might add to a list.

Are any others experiencing problems with not seeing delivered standard forms/screens etc due to personalizations?

Infor does know personalizations keep users from seeing standard delivered pages/content. They also know configured pages/forms/etc prevent you from seeing delivered content.

Currently there is no marker or alert or any flag on a page that has a personalization alerting you that you have it changed and if you want to disabled it then you can see the standard page.

For us it goes deeper - at the time of conversion we had help from Infor consultants that created pages for managers etc - and personalized pages according to those managers because at that time in 2020 there were no delivered managers pages that met our needs. Three years later - the personalized page that is attached to a manager menu cannot be deactivated without causing us to find the configuration that is updated with the added personalized menu to revert it back to the standard delivered menu. Are you following me? Yeah welcome to my world of connecting the dots to our personalized pages in the personalized menus in our personalized world keeping us from seeing updated new content from each CU.

Is there a support group for people in our situation? Are there others in our same position trying to get back to standard pages within GHR but swimming against the current trying to get to the surface? I'm curious to know.

example of a personalized list for visual reference - my work unit screen i added more fields that are a quick goto for my needs - and by doing that minor change then if they were to update this page with improvements then i would not see it unless i deactivated my personalization first -

This will be a constant battle. Users can see their personalizations in My Personalizations or by performing a Ctrl+Shift+left click on a list/form and it will show "Personalized". You may want to control who has access to Personalizations by role or configurable feature.

Further, you can be proactive by reviewing release notes on UI for each CU to see if an object is changed, then notify those that have the object personalized or configured. You can easily see who has the object personalized in the UserList / UserForm business classes.

Hey Noe, this is typically how it works. If you go into Configuration Console > Explore > Personalization's you should be able to verify if the user in question reporting the issue has a personalization in place. You can also restrict the use of personalization's by using configurable features. If not you'll always be battling the new updates and how they interact with your users personalization's.

does your organization not allow personalizations? maybe that's where we went wrong allowing users to use that from the start

the second battle i'm going through in our config is the setup our consultant created and reverse engineering the connected lists with forms and menus. has anyone else experienced that?

which goes back to our main argument from our department - get away from any custom forms/pages/etc and stay with all standard delivered applications. but in the back of my head i wonder if there is truly an organization that is full 100% canned reports/security/configs and able to do 100% functionality going from S3 to GHR without some sort of workaround or custom piece. Now that organization would be someone i'd love to chat with and see how things work so i could bring back to our organization and see what steps we need to get away from all the custom pieces we implemented since conversion.

We have been asking to meet with other organizations to see how others do things and we're still waiting to hear back from our cm as to who we will be able to speak with and when.

Another option to consider would be to disallow the personalizations but, instead, point users to the create report capability that exists in the same place as the personalization. Here, users can create essentially a personalized view with added fields, etc. without personalizing and missing out on any updates to the base list view.

I'm actually a consultant with HyBridge Solutions. I've had a mixed bag of customers who allow only administrators to use personalization's vs every user. I haven't had a customer that strictly ONLY uses out of the box functionality because infor is very configurable and each organization has their own unique requirements. The scenario you're describing is very common and just requires you to spend some time understanding where the problem lies before adjusting any configurations/personalization's to account for new functionality. The CU release notes do a pretty good job of identifying those changes. My advice would be to review the CU release notes carefully, re-create your personalization/configuration in a non-prod setting and update it accordingly to include functions you wish to take advantage of. Unfortunately there isn't a magic wand outside of not allowing configs/personalization's but you'd be limiting your ability to configure the UI to your liking.

If you would like to implement global processes and standardize it, I use Snapshot export and import. So, I create a snapshot of all personalization and Configuration, deactivate all, then apply the CU. Once the CU implemented, I import the snapshot, validate it to fix any conflicts created by the: "CU" if any, then Apply the snapshot to reactivate and import all configurations and personalization's,

We used to have this issue. Then, we made the decision to remove personalization access from our users about a year ago and it's been working out well. After removing access, we disabled all end user personalizations and forced them to use configured or delivered. If there was a personalization they wanted back, they submit it to our IT ERP team for review. If it's beneficial for our entire org, we'll add it as a config. Our IT ERP team retained access to personalize for troubleshooting/building purposes.
