Single Infor Item with Two Components Received at Different Times

Hey Everyone,

Background

We ran into an issue where the contents of one of our special custom packs come in two separate shipments. One shipment contains refrigerated materials, and the other contains the ambient items. We order these packs as one infor item, but the two components that make up the item/pack are shipped separately. I opened an Infor ticket to see if any current functionality could help us with this scenario. Infor was not able to identify anything that could help us.

Problem

Our receiving team received in the first item that arrives on the PO. When the remainder of the components arrive, they contact the buyer to advise that there is no additional quantity to receive on.

Workaround

Our buyer then adds a secondary no-charge line for receiving to enter the second shipment.

Question:

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any suggestions on what you are currently doing? We are trying to reduce the extra communication and update on the PO for items like these.

Hey Ben,

We have this exact issue on something we order from Medtronic. We are forced to buy as a kit, which contains two items that ship and arrive separately. We are also relying on the buyer to add a line for receipt of the second item. I did not open a ticket with Infor on the matter, but good to know there isn't a solution we weren't aware of. Wondering if many others have this issue, should there be an ER for it? Thanks.

Ben - have you tested setting up a Kit? Not sure if this would help but -

It's a good thought. We looked into this, but I wasn't able to figure it out. Felt like "kits" was intended to be used from the vendor perspective (i.e. for receiving and fulfilling orders rather than placing them). I would be curious if that is accurate and if anyone else uses kits when placing orders.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob. I did test out "kit" and it does allow you to add two components (must be item master items). When receiving on it though, I only get the option to receive in the kit item, it doesn't give me the option to receive on each component individually.
