Can a BE IPS service be used to create new records?

I have been asked to build a BE IPS service that would create/add/insert new records using an M3 CE program.  However, I don't see a way to trigger the Create action either directly or by simulating a click on the + toolbar icon.  Am I missing something or is IPS only used for updating existing data?

Hi Tim,

I don't believe that you will be specifying the action in the panel sequence section.  I find it works best to specify panel A, then the panels you need for posting data, then panel A again to exit.

When you define the input fields, you will select the field from the A panel that has "OPT" in the name.  It represents the action or option that you want to use.  Set that field to CONSTANT and use a default value of 1 for Add.  Also select the other panel A fields that you need to populate to create a unique record.  Of course you will also add fields from any panels you want to fill with additional data.

That is the quick version, let me know if you need more details.  This is what works for me.  Not sure that I am an expert.
