Best Practice preparing reports for configuration changes in FSM

Our organization is planning a setting change in FSM (changing from long description to short description). We expect this to impact our custom reports in BI FSM (Application Studio). What is the best practice for preparing for this type of configuration change? Do we download the reports and upload to the new environment? How can we minimize interruption? Also, when downloading how do we ensure that we maintain formatting and Style Sheet? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - if you are - as I infer - referring to Long and Short format of unique names I would not recommend changing this as the standard reports will no longer work.

The first thing I would try is adding a second connection to the FSM database on the EPM Admin dashboard data connections - as say FSM_Short. On the Advanced tab change the value in the Unique name combo box to short. Custom reports can the be written using short unique names. App Studio and other clients will show both connections provided you check the box on the usage tab of the connections dialog.

When you say standard reports are you referring to the Infor out-of-the-box reports such as "Financial Reporting Home"?

Yes and yes. On the second point add a new connection with a new description and unique ID e.g. FSM_Short. At least try it as it ought to be less disruptive than changing the OLAP DB settings,

I created the new connection. How can I repoint the reports to this new connection in application studio?

No - please don't - they likely won't work without objects like combo boxes and hyperblocks selections being adjusted. Why did you want to change the setting?

In order for the allocation functionality to work we have been instructed to change the settings. As a team we are repointing the objects to the new connection. It's not an ideal solution but we need to change the setting for the processes in FSM to work properly.
