Hello,
Curious how other organizations track or handle the following situation.
Employee completes open enrollment and selects benefits for themselves and a spouse to take effect 1/1/year.
Employee submits for a life event of divorce after open enrollment has been finalized. Divorce is accepted and Employee changes benefit plans to single effective immediately.
1/1/year comes about and employee is suddenly enrolled back into a plan with spouse - the plan selected during open enrollment. Divorce event and removal of spouse is no longer recognized.
At this time, the only way we can see to track this to avoid the situation is to manually check all events between open enrollment and year start and not only have the employee complete their life event elections, but then also re-open open enrollment to also complete elections for the following year again too.
Is anyone else handling this more smoothly?
Thanks
