HSA Accounts setup under plan type RS

We have our HSA accounts setup under the spedning plan type of RS.
I have read before where making mid-year changes to these plans was not advised.
However, our benefits area wants to allow employees to do that.
Has anyone done this before and if so, what are the correct steps to do this without causing any problems.

Resolution:
Mid-year changes can be made to employee spending accounts on the 7.x release and above by using a change function on the existing benefit and blanking out the Opt, Sal,Annual and PT (pre-tax) fields for reserve spending plans that have employee contributions. The number of times the deduction has been taken for the employee will default into the Opt field and the year to date will default to the annual and pre-tax fields.
For reserve spending plans that also have an employer contribution, the year to date employee contribution taken must be keyed into the Sal, Annual and PT fields. The annual and pre-tax fields cannot be defaulted as the amount would also include the employer year to date contribution.
