Enhancing Custom Widgets with Data Integration Using the Widget SDK

Hello, Infor Community!

I've recently embarked on a project where I've developed a custom widget for Infor Homepages using the Infor Widget SDK, specifically leveraging Angular and TypeScript.
I've successfully integrated the widget onto an Infor Homepage.

Now, I'm looking to take this a step further by enhancing the functionality of my widget. My goal is to display specific data within the widget—more precisely, sales order information for a particular business partner. This brings me to a couple of crucial questions for the community and anyone experienced with the Infor Widget SDK:

1. Is it possible to retrieve specific data types (like sales order information for a specific business partner) within a widget developed using the Infor Widget SDK?
2. If it is possible, what is the standard approach or best practices to access such data?

I'm seeking guidance on whether the SDK supports this level of data integration and how one might go about implementing it. Any insights into API calls, data fetching techniques, or examples of similar implementations would be immensely helpful.

For context, I am working with Infor OS 2022.06.00 and Infor LN 10.7.

Retrieving data via an API is standard functionality of the Widget SDK.   I cannot spear to LN in particular, but if the data you seek is available via an API call to LN, then you can retrieve and use this data in your widget.   The SDK should have come with a number of sample widgets.  Please see the infor.sample.ionapi.m3 and infor.sample.ionapi.social for some examples of API usage in a widget.   In particular, you'll be using the IWidgetContext.executeIonApiAsync method.    This will even handle authentication and token refresh for you, so you don't have to worry about that.   You can even call 3rd party API's, once you have those API's registered in the API gateway.
